Below are some of the recurring questions I get about Above the Fold. If you have a question, see if it’s answered below. Not seeing your question below? Use the contact form to get in touch.
What platforms will the game be available on?
While in Alpha, it will be Windows only. Once in Beta, a Mac version will be added. Linux is still undecided (if you want it, speak up). No mobile or console ports are currently planned, but that doesn’t mean it will never happen.
What will it cost?
While in Early Access, it will cost US$13.99 / €11.59. Upon final 1.0 release, the price will increase (final price TBD).
The game launches with a 15% discount for those who choose to show early support.
Why release it in Early Access?
The Steam Store page has a more in-depth answer, but the short version is this: I am releasing the game in Early Access to both build an audience, and to raise the cash needed to finish the game (pay for artwork, first of all). Finally, I love the feedback I’ve been getting from early players; their feedback has helped shape many aspects of the game already.
Can I rename the reporters?
No. You’re their boss, not their god. The reporter names are randomly generated based on a pool of first and last names, sometimes with a random middle initial thrown in. A feature is on the backlog, that will allow you to use custom names as well, but you still won’t be able to rename reporters.
Can I have X game keys for my pals and me?
There are many scammers out there looking for free Steam Keys to resell, but if you’re a legitimate streamer or let’s-player, send me a link to your channel. If your channel regularly features similar games, I’ll use the contact link on your page to verify that you are legit (unfortunately, many scammers pretend to be popular streamers/youtubers). Then I will happily send you a free game.
Is it being released with art from Kenney Studio?
The Early Access Alpha is, yes. The in-game artwork, such as the map, story icons, characters, buttons etc. will all be replaced before the final release (planned for late 2020), but Kenney‘s work is fantastic and pretty close to the look I wanted. So, not only did I use Kenney’s art for the alpha, I asked for (and got) a recommendation on the final art.
